Each month, our team at the National Christian Foundation is focusing on a Bible verse about generosity. We’re excited to share these verses with you and your family, and we pray each one will be a blessing!
When it comes to love, it's easy to say words we don't mean. It's much harder to follow those words with actions. For example, it's easy to say that we love the poor and the orphaned. But if we're not doing anything to help people and children struggling with those circumstances, then our lack of action demonstrates that they are not our true priority.
The truth of 1 John 3:18 is one of the reasons giving is such a valuable aspect of our faith. Giving is a tangible expression of the love we speak.
The context for giving as an act of love can be found in the preceding verses found in 1 John 3:16-17: “By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him?”
The Father spoke His love through the gift of His only Son. Jesus spoke His love on the cross.
How will you speak love today?
